The Photographic Angle

The Photographic Angle holds free exhibitions that travel across the UK transforming vacant spaces into temporary galleries. The exhibitions showcase the contemporary work from students, graduates and enthusiasts of the art of photography giving the public the chance to see the current practices from this dynamic field.

For each exhibition, an expert of the art of photography is invited to select a new theme inspired by their own research for which artists can submit work to tour around TPA galleries throughout the UK.

Work can be submitted on this website by visiting the apply page. New themes are chosen regularly and exhibitions are always changing so we are always looking for work!

wilsonwilliams gallery

WW is a not-for-profit artists' run project space in a converted Victorian terraced house in Hackney, East London
The gallery sits within an elegant, Victorian terraced house, overlooking the green fields of Hackney Downs. Its quiet domestic setting is deceptive however, for since its opening in September 2008 it has been running a series of fearless and ambitious shows, featuring an eclectic array of work that runs from the beautiful and ornate to the grotesque and unsettling. Breaking away from the tendency of their East End counterparts to show work with a dry and introspective concern with theory, concept and the politics of the art industry, WW looks outward by staging shows centered around wider social and cultural themes. The result is often dark, frequently humorous and at once democratic and challenging. WW’s curators make full and imaginative use of the unique architecture of the space, which is flooded with natural daylight from both the front and back. More than just a sterile display case, the gallery is a hub of creative energy

photo-id

Photo-ID: Photographers and Scientists explore Identity. The complexity surrounding the construction of personal and social identity will be explored in Photo-ID, a major exhibition in Norwich City Centre, throughout August 2009. It will present the work of nine specially commissioned photographers, who will each visually explore issues around identity. Their work will be shown within a context that explores how recent information about the human genome and its variations affects how we think about identity, now and in the future. Photo-ID will be freely open to the general public, and will be accompanied by a full programme of ancillary educational activities, a book and a website.
